Why Learn of God's Holiness?

Aside from R.C. Sproul book being considered a classic, after reading Desiring God by John Piper, I was intrigued for another reason.

I find myself echoing the same sentiment that of R.C. Sproul towards the end of Chapter 2.

‎"There is an irony here. I am sure that the reason I have a deep hunger to learn of the holiness of God is precisely because I am not holy. I am a profane man-a man who spends more time out the temple than in it. But I have had just enough of a taste of the majesty of God to want more."

Well said R.C. Sproul, I for one could not even express the intrigue, the desire to know more of God and His Holiness, any better than that.
